What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is the optimization of individual web pages so they clearly match a search intent and are easy for search engines and readers to understand. It includes title tags, meta descriptions, headings, body content, internal links, image alt text, page-level schema and the signals of experience and expertise on the page.

On-page SEO starts with a simple question for every important URL: what is someone searching for when this page should appear, and does the page give them a better answer than the alternatives? Keywords matter, but intent matters more. A person searching for a service near them wants different information from someone comparing specifications or prices.

For each page we review:

  • Intent fit and which single topic the page should own
  • Title tag and meta description written for clicks, not just keywords
  • Heading structure and logical content flow
  • Depth: specifications, process, FAQs, proof and next steps
  • Internal links to and from related pages
  • Images, file names, alt text and page weight
  • Author, company and experience signals that support trust

On-page work builds on a sound technical base. If crawl or index problems exist, we recommend addressing them through technical SEO first.

Who benefits from on-page SEO

  • Businesses with thin service pages

Sites where service pages are a short paragraph and a contact form, with little for search engines or buyers to go on.

  • Sites with overlapping pages

Websites where several pages target the same topic and none of them performs well.

  • B2B and industrial companies

Manufacturers and suppliers whose product pages lack specifications, applications and clear enquiry paths.

  • Pages stuck just below the top results

Pages already getting impressions in Search Console but earning few clicks or sitting in mid positions.

Why good businesses end up with weak pages

Most business websites are written once at launch and rarely revisited. Service pages are short, generic and written from the company’s point of view rather than the buyer’s. The same few keywords are repeated across several pages, so search engines cannot tell which one should rank.

Title tags are often just the page name or the company name. Headings are chosen for design rather than structure. Images have no alt text or file names like IMG_2041.jpg. Internal links mostly come from the main menu, so important pages get no contextual support.

None of this is dramatic on its own. Together, it leaves pages that are hard to understand and easy for competitors to outrank, even when your actual service is stronger than theirs.

  • Keyword-to-page map that removes overlap and gaps
  • Rewritten titles and meta descriptions based on Search Console queries
  • Content expanded with specifics buyers need to decide
  • Contextual internal links between related pages
  • Page-level schema that matches visible content

Process

Our On-Page SEO process

  1. Query and page review

We pull queries, impressions and click-through rates for each page from Search Console to see how Google currently reads it.

  2. Intent and competitor check

We study the pages currently ranking for each target query to understand the format and depth searchers expect.

  3. Page brief

Each page gets a brief covering target intent, headings, questions to answer, internal links and schema type.

  4. Rewrite and implement

Content, metadata, images and links are updated in your CMS, keeping your brand voice and factual claims accurate.

  5. Track and refine

We monitor impressions, clicks and click-through rate per page and refine titles or content where results lag.

FAQs

On-Page SEO FAQs

Still have a question?

Ask us directly — you’ll get a straight answer from the team that does the work.

How many pages should we optimize first?

Start with the pages closest to revenue: your main service or product category pages, plus any page already getting impressions but few clicks. For most small and mid-sized businesses that is between five and twenty pages. Optimizing a focused set properly usually achieves more than lightly touching every page on the site.

Do you just add keywords to our existing content?

No. Repeating keywords does not help and can make pages read badly. We look at what the searcher needs, what your page is missing compared with the best results, and how the content is structured. Keywords appear naturally in titles, headings and copy, but the aim is a more useful page.

Will you change our brand voice or claims?

We keep your voice and check every factual claim with you before publishing. We may suggest plainer wording, clearer structure or extra detail, but we do not invent specifications, certifications or results. Accuracy matters for both visitors and search engines, especially on pages about health, finance or safety.

Is AI-written content bad for SEO?

Google’s guidance focuses on whether content is helpful and accurate, not on how it was produced. The risk with mass-produced AI text is that it is generic, repetitive and sometimes wrong. We write and edit with real knowledge of your business, and any drafting tools are always followed by careful human review.

How is on-page SEO different from content writing?

Content writing produces the words. On-page SEO decides which page should target which query, how it should be structured, what it needs to cover, how it links to other pages and how its metadata and schema are set up. We do both, but the optimization decisions come first.
