Brand Identity Design

Brand Identity Design

We build the full visual toolkit behind your brand: logo, colours, fonts, imagery rules and layout patterns, documented in guidelines so your website, packaging and social posts stay consistent whoever designs them.

What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

Brand identity design is the creation of a complete visual system that makes a business recognisable across every touchpoint. It includes the logo, but also defines the colour palette, typefaces, photography and illustration style, graphic patterns and layout principles, all documented in brand guidelines that designers, printers and staff can follow consistently.

A logo is a single mark. A brand identity is the set of decisions that tells everyone how your business should look wherever it appears. Two companies can have equally good logos, yet one feels coherent and the other feels patched together, because only one has defined the rest of the system.

Our brand identity design covers:

  • Logo suite, either newly designed or refined from your existing mark
  • Colour palette with primary, secondary and neutral colours, specified in CMYK, RGB, HEX and Pantone references
  • Typography for headings, body text and digital use, with licensing notes
  • Imagery and graphic elements, including photo direction, icon style and patterns
  • Brand guidelines showing correct and incorrect use with real examples

If you only need the mark itself, logo design may be enough for now.

Who should invest in a brand identity

  • Businesses preparing to launch

Companies that want website, packaging and marketing designed on one foundation from day one.

  • Businesses repositioning

Firms moving upmarket, entering new markets or changing what they sell, whose current look no longer fits.

  • Teams using several designers

Businesses working with agencies, freelancers and in-house staff who need shared rules to stay consistent.

  • Consumer and D2C brands

Product brands where packaging, shelf presence and social media depend on a strong, recognisable visual style.

What happens when there is only a logo

Without defined rules, every designer who works for you makes their own choices. One picks a bright teal as the accent colour, another uses navy. The website uses one font, the brochure another, the packaging a third. Photography swings between stock images and phone pictures. Each decision seems small, but the sum is a brand that feels different every time a customer meets it.

It also wastes time and money. Each new agency or freelancer spends the first part of every project guessing what your brand should look like, and you spend time correcting them. When the business grows and more people produce material, the problem multiplies.

A documented identity turns those repeated debates into settled decisions, so effort goes into the message instead of re-arguing colours and fonts.

  • Define brand personality and positioning before choosing visuals
  • Build colour and type systems that work in print and on screen
  • Set clear rules for photography, icons and illustration
  • Show the system applied to real items your business uses
  • Document everything in guidelines written for non-designers too

Process

Our Brand Identity Design process

  1. Discovery and positioning

Through a workshop and questionnaire we define who the brand speaks to, how it should feel and how it differs from competitors.

  2. Mood and direction

We present visual directions combining colour, type and imagery so you choose an overall feel before detailed work begins.

  3. Identity development

The logo suite, colour palette, typography and graphic elements are designed together so they work as one system.

  4. Application testing

We apply the identity to items such as a business card, social post, web header and brochure cover to test it in real use.

  5. Guidelines and handover

We compile the brand guidelines, export all assets and walk your team through using them correctly.

FAQs

Brand Identity Design FAQs

Still have a question?

Ask us directly — you’ll get a straight answer from the team that does the work.

Do I need a brand identity if I already have a logo?

Not always, but most growing businesses benefit from one. If your logo is solid, we can keep it and build the colour, typography, imagery and guidelines around it. If the logo itself is weak, we suggest refining it as part of the identity work so the whole system rests on a dependable foundation.

What is included in the brand guidelines?

The guidelines document explains how to use every element of the identity. It typically covers logo versions, clear space and minimum sizes, colour values and proportions, typography hierarchy, photography and icon style, and examples of correct and incorrect use. The exact depth is agreed in the proposal based on how many people will use it.

Who owns the brand identity and its files?

After full payment, ownership of the final approved identity artwork and guidelines is transferred to your business, as stated in the proposal. Fonts and any licensed stock images remain under their own licences, and we list them so you can purchase or renew licences where required. Unselected concepts stay with us.

How are revisions handled on an identity project?

Revisions are handled at each stage, with the number of rounds agreed in the proposal. Approving the direction before detailed design keeps later revisions focused on refinement rather than starting over. We ask for consolidated feedback from the people who will make the final decision, which keeps the project moving.

Will the identity work for printing and my website?

Yes, that is part of the brief. Colours are specified in CMYK and Pantone for print and in RGB and HEX for screens, since the same colour can look different on paper and a monitor. Fonts are chosen with web availability in mind, and we can carry the identity into your website design if needed.
