The Logo Design Process: From Brief to Final Files
The logo design process is the sequence of stages that takes a logo from a written brief to production-ready files. Here is what happens at each…
Logo Design
We design original logos drawn in vector from the first sketch, tested at small and large sizes, and delivered with all the variations and file formats your printer, signage vendor and web developer will ask for.

Logo design is the creation of a unique mark, made of a symbol, a wordmark or both, that identifies a business at a glance. A properly designed logo works at every size, from a favicon to a hoarding, in colour and in single colour, and is supplied as a family of variations and file formats rather than a single image.
A logo is the most repeated piece of design your business will ever own. It goes on cards, invoices, shop boards, packaging, uniforms, your website header and a 32-pixel browser tab. A logo that only looks good on a large screen will let you down in most of those places.
Our logo design work focuses on the mark itself and how it behaves in use:
A logo is one part of a brand, not the whole of it. If you also need defined colours, typography, imagery style and usage guidelines, that is covered by our brand identity design service.
Founders registering a company or launching a product who want a mark they won’t outgrow in two years.
Firms whose current logo was made quickly, is hard to read small, or only exists as a low-resolution JPG.
Companies introducing a sub-brand or product range that needs its own mark alongside the parent brand.
Restaurants, cafés, salons and stores where the logo appears on signage, packaging and uniforms.
Many business owners only discover their logo’s weaknesses when a vendor asks for a file. The signage company wants a vector, the embroidery shop wants a simpler version, and the developer needs a square icon. If the original was made in a free app or copied from a template, none of those exist.
Rushed logos also tend to rely on thin lines, gradients and fine detail that disappear when printed small or embroidered. Some use clip-art symbols that hundreds of other businesses already use, which makes them forgettable and can create problems if you later try to protect the mark.
On that point, trademark registration is a separate legal process handled by a trademark attorney. We design with distinctiveness in mind and can advise you to run a search, but we cannot guarantee that any mark will be registrable.

Scope
Questions about your audience, values, competitors and where the logo will be used most.
Distinct logo directions, with the number of initial concepts agreed in the proposal.
Primary, horizontal, stacked and icon-only versions for different spaces.
Full colour, single colour, black, white and reversed versions with colour codes.
AI, EPS, SVG and PDF vectors plus PNG and JPG in CMYK and RGB.
A one-page reference showing clear space, minimum size and incorrect uses.
Process
We learn what the business does, who it serves, which competitors it is compared with and where the logo must work.
Ideas are explored on paper and in vector, covering symbol, lettering and combination approaches.
Shortlisted concepts are shown on realistic applications such as a card, signboard and social profile.
The chosen direction is refined for spacing, letterforms and colour in the revision rounds agreed in the proposal.
We build every version, export the full file pack and walk you through which file to use where.
Technologies
A mark designed for small sizes and single colour stays readable on embroidery, stamps and app icons.
Every vendor gets the right format, so you stop recreating your logo from screenshots.
Original artwork, with ownership of the final logo transferred to you on full payment.
A well-built logo can be extended into a complete identity system when the business is ready.

FAQs
Still have a question?
Ask us directly — you’ll get a straight answer from the team that does the work.
The number of initial concepts and revision rounds is agreed in the proposal, depending on the scope you choose. We prefer presenting fewer, well-considered directions over many rough options. If after refinement you want a completely new direction, we discuss it openly and agree the extra work before starting.
Yes. Once the project is paid in full, copyright in the final approved logo is transferred to your business in writing. Concepts you did not select remain with us and are not reused for other clients. Fonts used in the wordmark may carry their own licence, and we tell you which fonts are used and how they are licensed.
No designer can honestly guarantee that. Trademark registration is a separate legal process assessed by the trademark registry, and we recommend speaking with a trademark attorney. What we can do is avoid generic symbols, design an original mark and suggest you run a trademark search before finalising, which improves your chances.
You will receive vector files in AI, EPS, SVG and PDF for printers, signage and embroidery, which scale to any size without losing quality. You also get transparent PNGs and JPGs in RGB for websites, documents and social media. Files are named clearly by version and colour so your team can find the right one quickly.
Yes. If your current logo has recognition worth keeping, we can refine it by redrawing it in clean vector, improving spacing and legibility, and simplifying details that fail at small sizes. If the existing mark has deeper problems, we explain why and let you decide between a refresh and a new design.
